Are school district social media posts public records?
Public school districts are government bodies, and content created or received in the course of official business — including on social media — may fall under your state’s public records law. Depending on state law, that may include parent comments on official pages when they relate to district business, including comments later deleted.
How does FERPA interact with social media?
FERPA protects personally identifiable information from education records; not every social post or comment is itself an education record. District policy and counsel determine how exposed student information should be removed, retained and disclosed. Brolly preserves captured content and moderation history to support that workflow.
What about cyberbullying on our pages?
